How Stress Impact on You and Your Body

What is stress? How you know you are stressed? How do you measure stress in your body?

Perhaps, the biggest challenge with stress is that it is invisible. yet, you can feel it in the various form be it physiologically, psychologically, emotionally and physically. You can see the impact of stress in many forms physiologically – cancer, heart disease, diabetes, IBS, auto-immune diseases, insomnia etc.

Balancing the amount of time our body spends in “fight-or-flight” vs “rest-and-digest” is called autonomic nervous system (ANS) balance. The ANS regulates all of the involuntary functions of your body, including respiration, digestion, hormone levels, etc.

When animals, including humans, feels danger, their body’s “fight-or-flight” mechanism is activated. This system releases epinephrine (adrenaline) and cortisol and is a natural stress response necessary to protect us from physical dangers.

However, humans are the only animal to now experience psychological stress. The pace, pressure and intensity of modern life create stressors that are perceived by the body as physical stressors, thus activating our “fight-or-flight” response. Consistent and unnecessary releases of adrenaline and cortisol compromise our sleep, emotional stability, health and happiness.

Every time you feel acutely stressed, your fight-or-flight system kicks in and begins a chemical reaction designed to protect you and preserve your life. In many situations, the costs of expressing a stress response are low compared to the costs of not expressing the response if a major threat is present, so false alarms are expected in the normal system (the “smoke detector principle”). When we are actually in a life-threatening moment, this function is genius and extremely relevant. However, when we are simply experiencing a high level of stress, our fight-or-flight response is not only in overdrive – over a lifetime, it could, literally, kill you.

The “fight-or-flight” system initiates a chemical reaction that floods the blood stream with cortisol and activates our major muscle groups, senses, and vital organs to perform at peak levels to fight, flee, or freeze. This all happens without any ability to reason or think through our next move – it’s automatic and subconscious. This natural human process has worked for thousands of years and is highly refined and sensitive. Every time we encounter an intensely stressful situation (real or perceived), or you call it PRESSURE MOMENT, the fight-or- flight system is activated and away we go.

The fight-or-flight response system was evolved million years ago to protect our ancestor from life-threatening danger. Unfortunately, with our fight-or-flight system in overdrive mode most of the time due to modeen life style, our life and health are greatly in danger.

NuCalm® is the world’s first and only patented neuroscience technology clinically proven to lower stress and improve sleep quality – without drugs. NuCalm gives you the power and control to slow down and recharge anywhere, any time. NuCalm predictably and quickly “flips the switch” from high cortisol and adrenaline to deep relaxation. This allows your body to stop the flood of cortisol and transition away from the stress response, into deep relaxation and restoration.

NuCalm quickly slows your mind and body and activates your brain-heart-lung connection to optimize diaphragmatic breathing, oxygen-rich red blood cell flow, optimal recovery and muscle recovery. With NuCalm, your mind wanders (in Theta brainwave length) and your body idles in its optimal recovery state.

A 20 minutes NuCalm session allows you to go from stressed and out of control, to a state of deep calm and balance. A complete NuCalm session (to your natural endpoint) will allow your body to achieve complete balance of your autonomic nervous system. Your physiology will be optimized and your mind will be clear and focused. Stress will not interfere with your decision making.

NuCalm also provides the neurophysiology and biochemistry necessary for improving sleep and managing circadian rhythm dysfunction. A better night’s sleep will also contribute to better stress management and resiliency. By restoring autonomic nervous system balance, NuCalm helps you kick stress to the curb, while restoring your body’s natural rhythms, allowing you to recover and optimize your biological systems to achieve peak performance.
